The bill would amend the Civil Practice and Remedies Code to provide first responders with immunity from any civil liability arising from the provision of roadside assistance to motorists so long as the responder acted in good faith and did not commit gross negligence, recklessness, or intentional misconduct during the performance of the act of providing roadside assistance. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
