The bill would amend the Family Code relating to the duration of an appointment of a guardian ad litem or an attorney ad litem for a child in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS). Based on information provided by DFPS, it is assumed that duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
