                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 11, 2017      TO: Honorable Kel Seliger, Chair, Senate Committee on Higher Education      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB961 by Rodriguez, Justin (Relating to the election of junior college district trustees by plurality vote.), As Engrossed    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Education Code as it relates to governing boards of public junior college districts. The bill would allow a board of trustees to provide a resolution no later than the 180th day before the date of an election that a candidate must receive a plurality vote for a position on a junior college board of trustees. This analysis assumes that any costs associated with the provisions of the bill could be covered with institutional funds.
