                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 20, 2017      TO: Honorable Joe Straus, Speaker of the House, House of Representatives      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB961 by Rodriguez, Justin (Relating to the election of junior college district trustees.), As Passed 2nd House    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Education Code as it relates to governing boards of public junior college districts. The bill would allow a board of trustees to provide a resolution, no later than the 180th day before the date of an election, that a candidate must receive a plurality vote for a position on a junior college board of trustees. This analysis assumes that any costs associated with the provisions of the bill could be covered with institutional funds.
