                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 5, 2017      TO: Honorable Jim Murphy, Chair, House Committee on Special Purpose Districts      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB967 by VanDeaver ( Relating to the powers of the TexAmericas Center.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted    No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Special District Local Laws Code allowing the Texamericas Center to amend its authority and allow establishment of nonprofit corporations for special projects. The bill would also allow the Board of Texamericas Center to appoint to the board of directors for the nonprofit. The nonprofit corporation may not exercise the power of eminent domain.The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.   Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
