85R8741 BK-D By: Hunter H.C.R. No. 55 CONCURRENT RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Betty M. Lamb of Rockport is retiring from the Coastal Bend Council of Governments in February 2017, drawing to a close an outstanding career with that organization that has spanned more than four decades; and WHEREAS, Ms. Lamb began working with the Coastal Bend Council of Governments as an auditor in 1973; she took on additional responsibilities as a contract specialist in 1980, and in 1990, she was named director of the Area Agency on Aging, a position she has held for the past 27 years; and WHEREAS, A respected voice on issues affecting seniors, Ms. Lamb has shared her insight as a former chair and longtime member of the Corpus Christi Mayor's Council on Aging, as a past officer in the Texas Association of Area Agencies on Aging, and as an active contributor to the Face to Face Advisory Council supporting family caregivers; she also spent more than two decades working on the Coastal Bend Aging and Disability Resource Directory Project, and she has served as an active planning member of Coastal Bend Community Partnerships, including the long-running Grandparents and Other Relatives Raising Children Conference; and WHEREAS, In retirement, Ms. Lamb is looking forward to enjoying more time with her family, which includes her two daughters and six grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Through her dedication and expertise, Betty Lamb has made a positive difference in the lives of many area Texans, and she may indeed reflect with well-deserved pride on her record of service; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 85th Legislature of the State of Texas hereby congratulate Betty M. Lamb on her retirement from the Coastal Bend Council of Governments and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Lamb as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
