H.R. No. 1178 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, In a heartwarming gesture of kindness and support, five-year-old Brittan Brock of Childress made a care package of sandwiches to be given to firefighters who were battling the recent wildfires in the Texas Panhandle; and WHEREAS, The daughter of Sawyer and Shelby Bocanegra, Brittan was deeply saddened by stories of the devastating fires in that region; after learning that her uncle would be taking supplies to people affected by the disaster, this caring young girl decided to make her own contribution to the donations that were being collected from the community; and WHEREAS, Brittan was joined in this endeavor by her two-year-old brother, Westin; the siblings, whose grandfather is a retired firefighter and whose uncle worked for the Texas A&M Forest Service, hold in high regard the heroes who risk their lives to protect others, and they enclosed a hand-drawn sign reading "Thank You for Saving Texas" along with the cooler that they had filled with sandwiches; and WHEREAS, Through her effort to uplift firefighters performing difficult and dangerous work, Brittan has demonstrated compassion and maturity beyond her years, and she is a source of pride to all who know her; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby commend Brittan Brock for making sandwiches for firefighters in the Texas Panhandle and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Brittan as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
