H.R. No. 1457 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Bob Kilmer has served Matador Cattle Company with distinction for 40 years, and it is indeed fitting to recognize his long career in ranching; and WHEREAS, A New Mexico native, Mr. Kilmer studied animal science at New Mexico State University and completed his bachelor's degree in 1976; following graduation, he began his career with Matador Cattle Company as a farm hand, and he later served as a bookkeeper for its Beaverhead Ranch in Montana; and WHEREAS, Mr. Kilmer went on to work at the corporate offices in Wichita, Kansas, before transferring to the feed yard in Lubbock; his skill and dedication led to his appointment as manager of Matador Ranch in 1998, and he has continued to excel in that role; and WHEREAS, Highly regarded for his use of the Market Based Management principles developed by Matador's owner, Charles Koch, Mr. Kilmer has been a speaker for the King Ranch Institute for Ranch Management on several occasions, including its 2011 Holt Cat Symposium on Excellence in Ranch Management; he also contributed to the advancement of his profession by joining with other Matador Ranch employees to assist a KRIRM graduate student with a management survey of 15 of the largest ranches in the country; and WHEREAS, Bob Kilmer has contributed to the sterling reputation of Matador Ranch through his expertise and commitment to innovation, and in so doing, he has earned the lasting respect and admiration of his colleagues throughout the industry; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby honor Bob Kilmer for his 40 years of service to the Matador Cattle Company and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Kilmer as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
