 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The 90th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed
 cause for celebration, and Carolyn Moore of Houston is marking that
 significant milestone in her life on April 26, 2017, to the delight
 of her family and friends; and
 WHEREAS, Born in Lufkin in 1927, Mrs. Moore has lived in
 Houston since she was nine months old; she attended Montrose
 Elementary School, Lanier Middle School, and Lamar High School in
 the Houston Independent School District; and
 WHEREAS, Mrs. Moore began her long career with Houston ISD as
 a history teacher at Jackson Junior High School; after completing
 her master's degree at the University of Houston and earning
 certification in counseling, she served as a school counselor at
 Jackson, Sharpstown, and T. H. Rogers Junior High Schools; she went
 on to join the faculty of Lee High School before her retirement; at
 each school, she held leadership roles, and she served as president
 of the Counselors Association as well; and
 WHEREAS, Today, Mrs. Moore is involved in both the Houston
 Association of Retired Teachers and the Texas Retired Teachers
 Association; she is also an active member of St. Martin's Episcopal
 Church, and she gives generously of her time and talents to support
 breast cancer awareness; a resident of Clarewood House, she serves
 as an usher at the chapel and is a member of the prayer shawl
 ministry; and
 WHEREAS, Gracious and kind, Carolyn Moore has enriched the
 lives of innumerable people through her contributions to education
 and to her community, and she has earned the lasting respect and
 admiration of all who are fortunate enough to know her; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Carolyn Moore on the joyous
 occasion of her 90th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes
 for continued happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mrs. Moore as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
