No. 1514 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Jillian Pflederer of Austin has ably served her fellow Texans as an intern in the office of State Representative Dan Huberty during the 85th Legislative Session; and WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Ms. Pflederer has provided vital assistance in handling a wide variety of tasks, including answering phone calls, logging constituent correspondence, and helping create a bill book; in addition to gaining valuable experience in the field of public service, she has learned more about the legislative process and the issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State; and WHEREAS, The daughter of Andy and Kathy Pflederer, Ms. Pflederer is in her sophomore year at The University of Texas at Austin where she is working to complete a degree in the Plan II Honors program with a concentration in international relations and Arabic; moreover, she has earned distinction as a Dedman Distinguished Scholar and an undergraduate fellow with the Clement Center for National Security, and she has received a Critical Language Scholarship to study abroad in Oman during the summer of 2017; she devotes her spare time to Amaanah Refugee Services and to PALS, a program that helps international students adjust to life at UT; following her graduation, she plans to pursue a career as a foreign field officer with the U.S. State Department; and WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has performed her duties as a legislative intern with skill and dedication, and she is indeed deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby commend Jillian Pflederer for her service as a legislative intern in the office of State Representative Dan Huberty and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Pflederer as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
