H.R. No. 1522
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Jasper High School girls' soccer team enjoyed an
outstanding 2016-2017 season, advancing all the way to the
University Interscholastic League 4A state semifinals held in
Georgetown on April 12, 2017; and
WHEREAS, After reaching the state finals in 2016, the Lady
Bulldogs again distinguished themselves in the playoffs this year,
dispatching teams from Bridge City, China Spring,
Hamshire-Fannett, Freeport Brazosport, and Orange Little
Cypress-Mauriceville High Schools to qualify for the semifinals;
and
WHEREAS, In that match, Jasper squared off against Boerne
High School; though they ultimately fell short by a final score of
2-1, the Lady Bulldogs turned in a valiant effort, and junior
forward Julie Carter and junior midfielder Ezra Lovett both earned
All-Tournament honors; and
WHEREAS, The squad from Jasper High excelled with a true team
effort throughout the season, also receiving valuable
contributions from the other members of the roster: Yvette Carter,
Kylee Dominy, Kaitlin Campos, Krystal Kraus, Caitlyn Warren, Jordan
Luther, Salma Segovia, Alivia Richardson, Claire Walker, Natalia
Zavala, Katri Kakko, and Gracie Stewart; these talented
student-athletes benefited from the able guidance of head coach
Gabriela Carter; and
WHEREAS, With their exceptional skill and unwavering
commitment to excellence, the Jasper Lady Bulldogs earned a place
among the top soccer teams in Texas, and they are a source of
tremendous pride to their classmates and their many supporters in
the local community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the Jasper High School girls'
soccer team on reaching the 2016-2017 UIL state semifinals and
extend to its players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for
continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
