 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The State of Texas lost a pioneer of its craft beer
 industry with the untimely passing of Steve Anderson of Alpine on
 November 25, 2015, at the age of 53; and
 WHEREAS, Born in Dallas in 1962, Steve Anderson moved to
 Austin to pursue his passion for music shortly after graduating
 from high school; throughout the 1980s, he became part of the city's
 growing punk music scene, performing in bands that included the Cry
 Babies, Screws, Toxic Shock, and Scratch Acid; and
 WHEREAS, During that time, Mr. Anderson also worked as a
 bartender at Texas Showdown, where he developed a friendship with
 the club's owner, Billy Forrester; the pair bonded over a mutual
 appreciation for beer brewing, and in 1993, they opened the first
 brewpub in Texas, Waterloo Brewing Company, in downtown Austin; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Anderson went on to work as a brewmaster at Live
 Oak Brewing Company for a decade, and he later relocated to West
 Texas, where he founded Big Bend Brewing Company in Alpine in 2012;
 he led the business up until the time of his death, and under his
 able guidance and expertise, it grew to produce more than 5,000
 barrels of craft beer each year; and
 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Anderson enjoyed the love
 and support of his wife, Ellen; and
 WHEREAS, Steve Anderson inspired countless others with his
 dedication to pursuing his dreams, and those who were privileged to
 share in his love and friendship will forever remember him with
 admiration and affection; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Steve Anderson and
 extend deepest condolences to his relatives and many friends; and,
 be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Steve
 Anderson.
