 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Larson Hanks of Vernon High School reached the
 pinnacle of high school wrestling success by capturing the Class 5A
 state title in the 182-pound weight division at the University
 Interscholastic League Wrestling State Tournament, held in Cypress
 on February 24 and 25, 2017; and
 WHEREAS, Demonstrating remarkable skill and dedication,
 Mr. Hanks bested opponents from College Station, Heritage, and
 Waller High Schools in the first three rounds of the competition to
 advance to the title match; in that contest, he claimed the 5A crown
 by defeating Jay Gonzales of Chisholm Trail High School in a 6-5
 triumph; and
 WHEREAS, His championship victory capped off a memorable
 senior season in which he accumulated an impressive overall record
 of 36 wins and just 4 losses and helped Vernon secure seventh place
 in the 5A team standings; and
 WHEREAS, In proving himself one of the finest high school
 wrestlers in Texas, Larson Hanks has realized a well-deserved
 reward for his countless hours of hard work, and he may take
 justifiable pride in this significant accomplishment; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Larson Hanks on winning the 2017
 UIL 5A wrestling state championship in the 182-pound weight class
 and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Hanks as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
