 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Jessica Fountain is celebrating her 59th birthday on
 May 7, 2017, and friends and admirers are gathering to extend to her
 their congratulations and best wishes; and
 WHEREAS, The daughter of Leo "Joe" Fountain and Jessie
 Fountain, Jessica Fountain was born in Center in 1958 and grew up
 with four siblings, Sharon, Leon, LaJuanah, and Keith; she
 graduated from Center High School and went on to major in business
 technology at the University of Houston's central campus; and
 WHEREAS, Ms. Fountain joined the United States Postal Service
 in 1977 as a manual distribution clerk; over the course of a career
 spanning more than four decades, she has risen to become executive
 administrative assistant to the Houston district manager; she has
 received numerous professional accolades, among them the Area Vice
 President Award and Shining Star Award; and
 WHEREAS, Active in her community, Ms. Fountain is a member of
 the Missouri City/Houston Space City Chapter of Top Ladies of
 Distinction; she serves the group as a Top Teen Mentor, and she has
 participated in a host of the chapter's initiatives, including the
 UNCF Top Teen Gala, the Visible Litter Study, and the March of Dimes
 and Sisters Network Walk-a-thons; in 2009, she was named Top Lady of
 the Year; she is also a charter member of the Barbara Jordan Houston
 Section of the National Council of Negro Women, and she has
 volunteered for such worthy causes and organizations as Habitat for
 Humanity, Evergreen Negro Cemetery Project Respect, and the
 restoration of Olivewood Cemetery; a valued member of the Church at
 Bethel's Family, she serves as a member of its education and
 scholarship ministry and as treasurer of its greeters ministry; she
 has given generously of her time and talents to support the
 congregation's charitable endeavors as well; and
 WHEREAS, With the passage of another year, Jessica Fountain
 may reflect with pride on her accomplishments and on the many
 significant contributions she has made in behalf of her fellow
 citizens; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Jessica Fountain on the occasion of
 her 59th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for
 continued success and happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Fountain as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
