 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Through their participation in the Rio Grande Valley
 Legislative Internship Program, a group of outstanding students
 from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley have contributed to
 the workings of state government during the 85th Texas Legislature;
 and
 WHEREAS, Sponsored by The University of Texas Rio Grande
 Valley Foundation and administered by the UTRGV Office of
 Governmental Relations and Department of Political Science, this
 program is designed to encourage students to pursue careers in
 public service; over the course of the legislative session,
 participants gain firsthand experience and knowledge while working
 in the offices of state lawmakers, where they are able to observe
 the legislative process, develop insight on important issues facing
 their communities and state, and receive mentoring from elected
 officials and their staff; and
 WHEREAS, The 2017 class of interns is the first to represent
 The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and includes exemplary
 students: Ann Jacobo, serving in the office of Representative Eddie
 Lucio III; Carlos Pimentel, serving in the office of Representative
 Terry Canales; Arturo Limones, serving in the office of
 Representative Oscar Longoria; Jorge Luis Garza, serving in the
 office of Representative Ryan Guillen; Kassandra Aleman, serving in
 the office of Senator Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa; Ilse Irena, serving in
 the office of Representative Armando "Mando" Martinez; Alondra
 Galvan, serving in the office of Representative René O. Oliveira;
 Victoria Garcia, serving in the office of Senator Eddie Lucio Jr.;
 Sarahi Martinez, serving in the office of Representative R. D.
 "Bobby" Guerra; Julio Garza, serving in the office of Senator
 Judith Zaffirini; and Melissa Garza, serving in the office of
 Representative Sergio Muñoz Jr.; and
 WHEREAS, Valued assets to their respective offices, these
 notable young Texans have performed their duties as legislative
 interns with the highest degree of professionalism, honor, and
 dedication, and they are indeed deserving of recognition for their
 outstanding work; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby honor the participants in the 2017 Rio Grande
 Valley Legislative Internship Program and extend to them sincere
 best wishes for success in all their future endeavors; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the students as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
