No. 2315 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Alyssa Perez Morrison has ably served residents of Texas as a policy analyst in the office of State Representative Gene Wu during the 85th Legislative Session; and WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Ms. Morrison has provided vital assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging tasks, and she has been particularly instrumental in advancing the representative's criminal and juvenile justice policy reforms, including those seeking to raise the age of juvenile jurisdiction and to end juvenile shackling; in addition, she has diligently reviewed and managed legislation referred to the house committees on Corrections, Criminal Jurisprudence, Homeland Security and Public Safety, and Juvenile Justice and Family Issues; over the course of the session, she has gained valuable experience in the field of public service and learned more about the legislative process and the issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State; and WHEREAS, An alumna of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Ms. Morrison holds a bachelor's degree in public policy analysis and is a member of the graduating Class of 2017 at The University of Texas at Austin LBJ School of Public Affairs, where she has pursued a master's degree with a concentration in criminal justice policy; she has worked for such worthy organizations and agencies as the City of Austin Health and Human Services Department, the King County Coalition Against Domestic Violence in Seattle, and the Texas Criminal Justice Coalition; furthermore, she has interned with Planned Parenthood and with the Western Cape Network on Violence Against Women in South Africa; and WHEREAS, Ms. Morrison has performed her duties as a policy analyst with skill and dedication, and she is indeed deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby commend Alyssa Perez Morrison for her service as a policy analyst in the office of State Representative Gene Wu and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Morrison as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
