R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The annual Rio Fest BBQ Showdown takes place each
year in Rio Grande City; and
WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their love of barbecue, and
over the years, the competitors in Texas barbecue cook-offs have
provided superior cuisine, satisfying the most discriminating of
palates; and
WHEREAS, An International Barbeque Cookers Association
sanctioned state championship event, the Rio Fest BBQ Showdown
features highly skilled pit masters putting their talents to the
test as they vie to produce the tastiest entries in several
different categories; along with great food and spirited
competition, attendees can also enjoy live music, a car show, and a
carnival; and
WHEREAS, A fun-filled event for individuals of all ages, the
Rio Fest BBQ Showdown is a popular celebration of Texas-style food
that is all the more special for helping to brighten the holiday
season for young people in the local area; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby recognize Rio Fest BBQ Showdown and extend
sincere best wishes to the event's organizers and participants for
an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
