85R34490 JGH-D By: Huberty H.R. No. 2721 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Agapito G. Hinojosa Sr. of Kingwood, who passed away on April 17, 2017, at the age of 82; and WHEREAS, Agapito Hinojosa was born in Beeville on May 31, 1934, to Agapito D. Hinojosa and Blanche Cantu; after graduating from Jefferson Davis High School, he earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Houston; and WHEREAS, Mr. Hinojosa and his wife, Jacqueline, were joined in matrimony in 1958, and they shared a rewarding marriage that spanned nearly six decades; he was a devoted father to his four children, Tonya, Jacka, Pete, and Alicia, and later in life, he was blessed with 13 grandchildren; and WHEREAS, For the first 13 years of his career, Mr. Hinojosa taught math and science and served as a coach at several schools in Houston, including Mt. Carmel High School, Edison Junior High, McReynolds Junior High, and San Jacinto High School; he also taught as an adjunct at North Harris Community College, and he went on to work for AAA for 25 years before retiring; and WHEREAS, Mr. Hinojosa was an active member of his community, and he enjoyed gardening, coaching youth basketball and football teams, and spending time with his family; and WHEREAS, Agapito Hinojosa lived a caring and purposeful life, and his loss is keenly felt by all who were touched by his affection and friendship; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Agapito G. Hinojosa Sr. and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Jacqueline D. Hinojosa; to his children, Tonya May and her husband, George, Jacka Brandler and her husband, Eric, Pete Hinojosa and his wife, Wendy, and Alicia Creel and her husband, Tom; to his grandchildren, Matthew, Jessica, Christopher, Katherine, Samantha, Serena, Gabriella, Jacob, Jonah, Isabella, Andrew, Samuel, and Abigail; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Agapito Hinojosa.
