 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Honoring Sharpstown High School for providing
 outstanding services for students and families in House District
 146. Sharpstown High School is located at 7504 Bissonnet Street in
 Houston, Texas; and
 WHEREAS, Sharpstown High School serves grades 9 through 12
 and is a part of the Houston Independent School District; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Daniel De León is the Principal of Sharpstown
 High School and is committed to the academic achievement and the
 physical and emotional well-being of all his students; and
 WHEREAS, Dr. Mehmet Oz ("DR. OZ" ) and his wife Lisa, founded
 the nonprofit HealthCorps in 2003, which is currently active in 44
 high-needs high schools nationwide, in 10 states and the District
 of Columbia; and
 WHEREAS, HealthCorps partnered with Sharpstown High School
 in 2008, making it the first Houston school to receive the
 HealthCorps curriculum, and has successfully bridged the gap
 between academic curriculum and real-world needs, with a focus on
 health, nutrition, fitness, safety and mental resilience
 incorporated in a public school setting; and
 WHEREAS, DR.OZ's non-profit, HealthCorps, has organized a
 Texas-wide CPR training event entitled, the "Texas Two Step" on
 February 11, 2017; and
 WHEREAS, the Houston Food Bank is a non-profit organization
 that collects and distributes food to the local Houston community
 and has formed a successful collaboration with Sharpstown High
 School and HealthCorps; and
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature, hereby recognizes the aforementioned esteemed
 individuals and notable organizations and commends the same for
 their excellent work. It is hereby urged that all Members support
 their continued joint efforts in improving the lives of students
 and families in the state of Texas.
