 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Dr. Michelle Kraft is being recognized with the Arts
 Award by the YWCA of Lubbock at its annual Women of Excellence
 awards ceremony on March 9, 2017; and
 WHEREAS, Created in 1989, the Women of Excellence awards
 honor individuals for their contributions as leaders and
 volunteers, highlighting the vital roles that women play in civic
 and professional endeavors in the Lubbock area; and
 WHEREAS, A generous and inspiring mentor, Dr. Kraft is
 professor of art education and assistant dean at Lubbock Christian
 University; she is also active in disability studies as the
 coauthor of Including Difference: A Communitarian Approach to Art
 Education in the Least Restrictive Environment, and through her
 work with the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., she has
 helped to establish national arts standards that include
 disability; and
 WHEREAS, With her receipt of a Women of Excellence award,
 Dr. Michelle Kraft joins an elite group of women who have been
 honored by the YWCA of Lubbock, and she is indeed a worthy role
 model for this and future generations; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Michelle Kraft on her receipt
 of the 2017 Arts Award from the YWCA of Lubbock and extend to her
 sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Dr. Kraft as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
