 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Young readers are gathering at the American Bank
 Center in Corpus Christi on February 18, 2017, for the third annual
 Teen Bookfest by the Bay; and
 WHEREAS, Bringing together teenage readers with 28 popular
 writers and illustrators of young adult fiction, this free event is
 sponsored by Corpus Christi Public Libraries, the Nueces County
 Public Libraries, and the Portland Public Library, and by
 librarians from the Aransas County, Calallen, Corpus Christi, Flour
 Bluff, Gregory-Portland, Orange Grove, Port Aransas, Sinton,
 Tuloso-Midway, and West Oso Independent School Districts; and
 WHEREAS, This year's roster of authors, many of whom are
 Texans, includes Ashley Dotson, D'Ann Burrow, P. J. Hoover,
 C. C. Hunter, Kristy Acevedo, Joe Shine, Becky Wallace, Manuel
 Ruiz, Miracle Austin, Jonathan Maberry, Joy Preble, Selene
 Castrovilla, Ann Stampler, Laura Stampler, Jacqueline E. Smith,
 Guadalupe Garcia McCall, Beth Fehlbaum, Steven Parlato, Jennifer
 Mathieu, Jeff Zentner, Margo Kelly, Amanda Thrasher, Rose Garcia,
 Kym Brunner, Terri Farley, Diana Lopez, and Brendan Kiely, as well
 as illustrator Evan Turk; and
 WHEREAS, In panel discussions, authors will talk about the
 process of writing and publishing, as well as such topics of
 interest as fantasy, paranormal fiction, and manga comics; there
 will be a "Manga Mixer" during the lunch break, and the day will
 conclude with the authors meeting readers and signing copies of
 their books; and
 WHEREAS, A love of reading can open up whole new worlds to
 young people, and this unique event offers readers in Corpus
 Christi and the surrounding region an opportunity to learn from and
 be inspired by a dynamic group of successful authors; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby commemorate the third annual Teen Bookfest by
 the Bay and extend to the festival's organizers, visiting authors,
 and attendees sincere best wishes for an exciting and memorable
 event; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Teen Bookfest by the Bay as an expression of high
 regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
