 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Rush Sawyer Hoelscher has been named a 2016 Corpus
 Christi Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas Distinguished Scholar in
 the career category; and
 WHEREAS, The Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas Distinguished
 Scholars program was established to reward local students who have
 demonstrated excellence in specific areas of achievement; since its
 inception in 1988, hundreds of young men and women have been
 selected for this prestigious honor, and each of the 2016 winners
 received a $1,000 scholarship to help fund their college studies;
 and
 WHEREAS, The son of Stephen and Gwynetta Hoelscher, Rush
 Hoelscher is a senior at Tuloso-Midway High School, where he holds a
 4.26 grade point average and ranks first in his class of 294
 students; in addition to keeping up with a demanding course load
 that includes classes in the process technology program at Del Mar
 College, he has won a district title in the 100-yard breaststroke
 race as a member of the Warriors swim team and shown prize-winning
 animals at the Nueces County Junior Livestock Show; he has also
 garnered accolades for his writing and engineering-design skills,
 as well as the 2014 Outstanding Altar Server designation from
 St. Anthony's Catholic Church, and he has further distinguished
 himself by leading his school's Junior Engineering Technology
 Society to a state title; after graduating, he plans to study
 computer science in college; and
 WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has pursued his goals
 with tremendous dedication, and he may take great pride in all that
 he has accomplished as he looks ahead to a future bright with
 promise; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Rush Sawyer Hoelscher on his
 selection as a 2016 Corpus Christi Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas
 Distinguished Scholar and extend to him sincere best wishes for
 continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Hoelscher as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
