 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Guinxe Gabriel, director of pharmacy services at
 CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi—South, has helped to deliver
 lifesaving medical care to thousands of people in his homeland of
 Haiti; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Gabriel first led a group of 13 physicians and
 nurses to Haiti in 2010, after it was ravaged by an earthquake in
 January of that year; the group traveled at their own expense, and,
 using donated antibiotics and other medications, treated more than
 1,000 residents over the course of a five-day trip; and
 WHEREAS, Since that time, Mr. Gabriel's team has expanded and
 has partnered with Northern New York Hope for Haiti, a nonprofit
 organization that builds and operates health clinics in that
 country; Mr. Gabriel has continued to visit Haiti for medical work
 twice a year, in the fall with a group that primarily treats
 patients with infectious diseases and in the spring with a group
 whose physicians chiefly perform surgeries; after Hurricane
 Matthew struck the southern part of Haiti in October 2016, NNY Hope
 for Haiti ventured to one of the areas that was hit hardest by the
 storm and provided essential medical care, including treatment for
 infections and malnutrition, to over 1,500 individuals; and
 WHEREAS, Embodying the highest ideals of his profession,
 Guinxe Gabriel has given of himself and his knowledge to alleviate
 the suffering of people in direst need, and his selfless, steadfast
 efforts continue to inspire the profound respect and admiration of
 all who know him; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby honor Guinxe Gabriel for his medical missions to
 Haiti and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success
 with his vital work; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Gabriel as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
