 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Matthew Wright of Austin has rendered outstanding
 service as an assistant sergeant at arms for the Texas House of
 Representatives for nearly a decade, and he is being honored by that
 body on March 1, 2017; and
 WHEREAS, A native of Oklahoma City, Matthew Wright is a
 member of the Class of 2008 at Stephen F. Austin High School, where
 he was selected as one of 10 students to participate in the Austin
 Independent School District Greater Opportunities Project at
 St. Edward's University; after graduating, he was hired as an
 assistant sergeant at arms for the house of representatives, a role
 in which he is responsible for delivering mail and completing
 errands for members of the Texas Legislature; and
 WHEREAS, Passionate about the armed forces, Mr. Wright
 became a member of the Texas State Guard in 2008; he has also
 generously volunteered his time with the Texas Military Forces
 Museum at Camp Mabry and the local chapter of the Military Vehicle
 Preservation Association; moreover, he has participated as an
 honorary candidate in the 1st Squadron, 124th Cavalry Regiment Spur
 Ride, and he received his Order of the Spur certificate and spurs in
 2016; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Wright has further distinguished himself
 through athletic competition; over the years, he has participated
 in a wide range of events at the Special Olympics, and he won a gold
 medal in golf at the 2016 Fall Classic, held at the Briarcrest
 Country Club in Bryan; he is also a member of the Dangerous Athletes
 Crew and annually competes in the Erg Rodeo and area regattas; and
 WHEREAS, Matthew Wright has made valuable contributions to
 the legislative process in the Lone Star State, and he is indeed
 deserving of special recognition for his fine work; now, therefore,
 be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby commend Matthew Wright on his exemplary service
 as an assistant sergeant at arms and extend to him sincere best
 wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Wright as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
