 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Matt Lohmeier of the Corpus Christi Clergy Alliance
 and Jesse Elizondo of the Homeless Issues Partnership are working
 together to end chronic homelessness in Corpus Christi, and their
 efforts are truly worthy of recognition; and
 WHEREAS, According to the Homeless Issues Partnership,
 hundreds of people currently experience chronic homelessness in
 Corpus Christi; while many individuals can be helped through
 transitional housing initiatives, others, for a variety of reasons,
 are not well served by such programs; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Lohmeier and Mr. Elizondo advocate for an
 approach that benefits all those in need of help; they support the
 housing-first model, which seeks to rehouse homeless individuals as
 quickly as possible as a means of restoring their dignity and which
 only subsequently addresses behavioral issues and social
 reintegration; the two civic leaders are focused on ending
 homelessness in Corpus Christi by 2019; and
 WHEREAS, Matt Lohmeier and Jesse Elizondo are committed to
 addressing a crisis that blights the lives of some of Corpus
 Christi's most vulnerable residents, and through their leadership
 in this effort, they are providing real hope to those who are
 directly affected and making an immeasurable contribution to the
 community at large; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby honor Matt Lohmeier and Jesse Elizondo for their
 efforts to end chronic homelessness in Corpus Christi and extend to
 them sincere best wishes for success with their important work;
 and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
 for Mr. Lohmeier and Mr. Elizondo as an expression of high regard
 by the Texas House of Representatives.
