 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Samantha Grace Perko of Sealy captured first place
 in the girls' breakaway roping competition at the Lester Meier Open
 Pro Rodeo held in Gonzales February 17-18, 2017; and
 WHEREAS, Pitted against a field of formidable opponents in
 the Saturday event, Samantha Perko enjoyed an unforgettable
 professional rodeo debut, emerging victorious with an outstanding
 time of 3.81 seconds; and
 WHEREAS, The triumph was just the latest in this talented
 13-year-old roper's impressive record of accomplishments, as she
 has previously won some 50 calf-roping contests, including a Texas
 Youth Rodeo Association subjunior breakaway roping state
 championship, and earned 5 saddles and more than 20 buckles; along
 the way, she has greatly benefited from the guidance of her roping
 coach, Sherman Lasker; and
 WHEREAS, The daughter of proud parents Mike and Renee Perko,
 Samantha Perko has distinguished herself as a top-notch athlete
 through her skill, determination, and commitment to excellence, and
 she will cherish her memories of this achievement for years to come;
 now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Samantha Grace Perko on winning the
 2017 Lester Meier Open Pro Rodeo girls' breakaway roping
 competition and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
 success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Samantha as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
