 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, A full and productive life drew to a close with the
 passing of Jim Lincoln of Houston on January 31, 2017, at the age of
 100; and
 WHEREAS, Born to Nora Lewis and Jimmy Lincoln in Huntsville
 on January 27, 1917, Jim Lincoln grew up as the second of eight
 children in a deeply religious home; he loved to attend worship
 services and sang in several church quartets; and
 WHEREAS, At the age of 25, Mr. Lincoln embarked on a career in
 the logging and pulpwood business, and he went on to establish his
 own company, which continues to flourish today under
 second-generation ownership as K-Lincoln Trucking and Logging;
 during World War II, he served his country in the United States Army
 as a truck driver, chauffeur, mail carrier, and cook; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Lincoln was the father of six children, Viola
 Jones, Mary Jason, Claudia Lincoln, Althea Guillory, Kelvin
 Lincoln, and the late Delores Thompson, as well as the stepfather of
 Billy Madkins, Lynn Coutee, and the late Linda Manns; through the
 years, his family grew to include 20 grandchildren, 30
 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren; and
 WHEREAS, A man of deep faith, Mr. Lincoln was ordained a
 deacon in 1963 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Crosby, and
 he served as chair of the deacon board for many years; he was a
 valued member of Calvary Way Missionary Baptist Church in Houston
 for over two decades and was renowned for his perfect record of
 attendance at Sunday services; and
 WHEREAS, Jim Lincoln will be deeply missed by those who were
 privileged enough to share in his love and friendship, and he will
 forever hold a special place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Jim Lincoln and
 extend sincere condolences to the members of his family; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jim
 Lincoln.
