 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Linda L. Griffin has been recognized by the Dallas
 County Commissioners Court for more than 40 years of service to the
 people of Garland and Dallas County; and
 WHEREAS, Mrs. Griffin cofounded St. Mark Institutional
 Baptist Church in Garland, along with her husband, the late
 Roosevelt A. Griffin, and she was recently honored for her 33 years
 of loyal service to the church; she was the first African American
 woman elected to the Garland Independent School District Board of
 Trustees, as well as the first African American appointed board
 president, and she is serving in that role a second time; and
 WHEREAS, Currently, Mrs. Griffin is the CEO of LINDCO, Inc.,
 a global consulting firm, and she also continues to advocate for
 improving public education; her ABC Motto of Service, "Always
 Benefiting Children," has inspired countless others to serve young
 Texans in Dallas County; and
 WHEREAS, The numerous leadership and service awards received
 by Mrs. Griffin reflect her commitment to various organizations in
 our community, including the Texas Association of School Boards,
 Texas Caucus of Black School Board Members, Garland Economic
 Development Partnership, Leadership Garland, and Garland and
 Vicinity Ministers' Wives Alliance, and she was named Woman of the
 Year by the National Business and Professional Women Association;
 and
 WHEREAS, Linda Griffin has made a positive, lasting impact in
 the community through her good works, and she is indeed deserving of
 this most recent honor; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Linda L. Griffin on her recognition
 by the Dallas County Commissioners Court and extend to her sincere
 best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mrs. Griffin as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
