No. 953 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A full and purposeful life drew to a close with the passing of Hazel Bennett Spearman of Pittsburg, Texas, on March 11, 2017, at the age of 93; and WHEREAS, The daughter of Warren and Myrtle Bennett, the former Hazel Bennett was born in Wood County on September 29, 1923; she enjoyed a career as a teacher before going into business with her husband, George Spearman; together, the couple owned B & S True Value Hardware & Lumber, and over the years, they became the proud parents of two sons, Steve Spearman and his wife, Beverly, and Tim Spearman and his wife, Pam; their family later grew to include four grandchildren, Chad, Chet, and Jenny Spearman, and Lindsey Van Curen, as well as seven great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, An active member of her community, Mrs. Spearman was a longtime congregant of the First United Methodist Church of Pittsburg, and she also belonged to the Bridge Club; and WHEREAS, Although Hazel Spearman is greatly missed, this beloved woman has left her family and friends with many cherished memories, and she will forever hold a special place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Hazel Bennett Spearman and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn her loss; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Hazel Spearman.
