The bill would exempt a physician, nurse, midwife, or other person in attendance at childbirth from criminal, civil, or administrative liability or disciplinary action for failure to administer prophylaxis for opthalmia neonaturum due to the objection of a parent, managing conservator, or guardian of a newborn. The bill would require that the objection be entered into the medical record of the infant. The Department of Licensing and Regulation and the Department of State Health Services indicate that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed within existing resources. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
