The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code relating to the sharing of death record information between the Department of State health Services and the Department of Public Safety. The Department of State Health Services and Department of Public Safety indicate that implementation of the bill could be absorbed within current resources. The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all members elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article II, Texas Constitution. If the bill does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, the bill would take effect September 1, 2017. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
