The bill would amend the Business and Commerce Code and the Code of Criminal Procedure to add certain terms to the list of storage media for recordings and provide for certain punishments and restitution for offenses related to unauthorized recordings.The Office of the Attorney General indicated the costs associated with implementation of the bill could be absorbed with existing resources.This analysis assumes the provisions of the bill addressing felony sanctions for criminal offenses would not result in a significant impact on state correctional agencies.The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
