A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to electronic toll collection customer account
information.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Sections 228.057(e) and (f), Transportation
Code, are amended to read as follows:
(e) Electronic toll collection customer account
information, including contact and payment information and trip
data:
(1) [,] is confidential and not subject to disclosure
under Chapter 552, Government Code; and
(2) may be provided by the department by contract to a
local toll project entity, as defined by Section 373.001, for
customer service, toll collection, or enforcement purposes.
(f) A contract for the acquisition, construction,
maintenance, or operation of a toll project, or for the provision of
toll collection account information under Subsection (e)(2), must
ensure the confidentiality of all electronic toll collection
customer account information under Subsection (e)(1) [(e)].
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
