                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 3, 2017      TO: Honorable Phil King, Chair, House Committee on Homeland Security & Public Safety      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB263 by Perry (Relating to the handgun proficiency required to obtain or renew a license to carry a handgun.), As Engrossed    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Government Code to remove the minimum handgun caliber requirement when demonstrating the handgun proficiency required to obtain or renew a license to carry a handgun. It is assumed any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing agency resources.  The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
