                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 20, 2017      TO: Honorable Charles Schwertner, Chair, Senate Committee on Health & Human Services      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB293 by Hinojosa (Relating to the proof required to impose payment holds in certain cases of alleged fraud by Medicaid providers.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would require the executive commissioner of the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC), in consultation with the Office of Inspector General, to adopt rules regarding what constitutes an ongoing significant financial risk to the state and a threat to the integrity of Medicaid for purposes of refining certain definitions related to Medicaid fraud.     Based on the analysis provided by HHSC, the provisions of the bill can be implemented within existing resources. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
