The bill would add Section 42.006(a-2) to the Texas Education Code directing the Commissioner of Education to by rule require each school district and open-enrollment charter school report through the Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) information regarding the availability of school counselors at each campus.The bill would also add Section 39.306(d-1) to the Texas Education Code relating to school district annual educational performance reports. The bill would require each school district board of trustees to include the number of counselors providing counseling at each campus in this report.According to the Texas Education Agency sufficient data is currently being collected to meet the requirements of the bill. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
