                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 18, 2017      TO: Honorable Dan Huberty, Chair, House Committee on Public Education      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB610 by Huffines (Relating to a study on expanding the state virtual school network.), As Engrossed    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Education Code to require the Texas Education Agency (TEA), using existing resources, to conduct a study regarding the feasibility of offering a full-time electronic course program for a grade level at or above kindergarten and below grade three; the study to address certain elements; and the agency to submit a report on the result of the study to certain entities not later than September 1, 2018. TEA indicates some costs associated with contracting with a third-party for the required study; however, this analysis assumes that the study could be accomplished with existing agency resources.
