                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 18, 2017      TO: Honorable Donna Campbell, Chair, Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs & Border Security      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB614 by Seliger (Relating to excused absences from public school for the purpose of visiting a military recruitment center.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Education Code to authorize a school district to excuse a student from attending school to visit a military recruitment center for a branch of the armed services of the United States for up to two days during the student's junior and senior years of high school. This analysis assumes any additional cost to the Foundation School Program resulting from the implementation of the provisions of the legislation would be minimal. The bill would apply beginning with the 2017-18 school year. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
