LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION May 22, 2017 TO: Honorable Dan Patrick, Lieutenant Governor, Senate FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE:SB73 by Nelson (Relating to leave policy and procedures for state employees.), As Passed 2nd House No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would amend Government Code to require state agencies to adopt policies regarding employee leave, apply certain conditions to the use of emergency leave, and require reporting on the use of emergency leave. The bill would also require the Comptroller to adopt a uniform system for agencies to report employee leave taken. Multiple agencies indicate that they could absorb the costs associated with the bill within their current resources. The bill would take effect September 1, 2017. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
