                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 24, 2017      TO: Honorable Kelly Hancock, Chair, Senate Committee on Business & Commerce      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB78 by Nelson (Relating to the disposition of state surplus or salvage data processing equipment by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Government Code to allow the Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ)  to sell repaired or refurbished data processing equipment to certain organizations and programs. TDCJ reports that the provisions of the bill can be absorbed within existing resources. The bill would take effect on September 1, 2017. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
