                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 23, 2017      TO: Honorable Charles Schwertner, Chair, Senate Committee on Health & Human Services      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB919 by Rodríguez (Relating to the authority of an advanced practice registered nurse or physician assistant to sign a death certificate in limited situations.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code to authorize physician assistants and advanced practice registered nurses to sign a death certificate in certain situations. The bill would take effect immediately upon a two-thirds majority vote of both houses. Otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2017. Based on the LBB's analysis of the Department of State Health Services, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.  Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
