The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code to authorize physician assistants and advanced practice registered nurses to sign a death certificate in certain situations. The bill would take effect immediately upon a two-thirds majority vote of both houses. Otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2017. Based on the LBB's analysis of the Department of State Health Services, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
