                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 19, 2017      TO: Honorable Kelly Hancock, Chair, Senate Committee on Business & Commerce      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB921 by Perry (Relating to a late fee for failing to pay rent under a residential lease.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Property Code by limiting the initial and daily fees that a landlord may charge a tenant for failing to pay rent. The Office of the Attorney General anticipates any additional work resulting from the passage of the bill could reasonably be absorbed within current resources. The bill would take effect January 1, 2018.  Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
