                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 814
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize the Brazos Valley Council of Governments on the
 occasion of its 50th anniversary; and
 WHEREAS, The Brazos Valley Council of Governments is a
 multipurpose, voluntary organization established by and for the
 local governments of the Brazos Valley Region of Texas; and
 WHEREAS, The council represents a geographic area that
 consists of Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, Madison, Robertson,
 and Washington Counties, and it serves more than 315,000
 residents; and
 WHEREAS, For the last five decades, the council has been a
 clearinghouse for regional data and information; any individual,
 city, county, or agency can make inquiries to the council for
 information in areas such as demographics, the workforce and
 labor market, solid waste and recycling, homeland security
 issues, transportation, and services for seniors; and
 WHEREAS, The staff and administrators at the Brazos Valley
 Council of Governments serve as resources through which local
 governments in the region can cooperatively identify public
 needs and go on to improve the quality of life for residents of
 all seven counties; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
 Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Brazos Valley Council
 of Governments for their exemplary service on behalf of the citizens
 of the Brazos Valley Region and extend to all congratulations on the
 council's 50th anniversary; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 the council as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
