SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 900 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Ernestine Hodges Cohee for 70 years of outstanding service as a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated; and WHEREAS, Ernestine Hodges Cohee was initiated into the sorority on November 30, 1946, at Wiley College, where she served as the Alpha Iota Chapter's journalist, vice president, and dean of pledges; and WHEREAS, After her graduation, she returned to her hometown of Fort Worth and became active in the Beta Rho Chapter, now known as the Fort Worth Alumnae Chapter; through the years, she has held numerous offices and has served on every committee in the chapter; she has been a delegate to numerous national conventions, regional conferences, and state meetings; and WHEREAS, She has received many honors for her exemplary service to the chapter, including the Reclamation Award, the Distinguished Service Award, the Ms. Protocol Award, the Dorothy Rettig Soror of the Year Award, and the Lifetime Achievement Award; she has also received the Tarrant County Pan Hellenic Council Greek Image Award; and WHEREAS, Ernestine Hodges Cohee is a highly respected member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and it is truly fitting that she receive special recognition for her countless contributions to its success; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, hereby commend Ernestine Hodges Cohee on her many achievements as a 70-year member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and extend to her best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
