R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Deep East Texas 2017 BBQ Championship is taking
place in Kirbyville on August 4 and 5, providing a welcome
opportunity for local residents and visitors alike to enjoy food,
fellowship, and entertainment; and
WHEREAS, Benefiting the Kirbyville Youth Football
Association, this highly anticipated barbecue showdown features
skilled pit masters putting their talents to the test as they vie to
produce the tastiest chicken, pork spare ribs, pork shoulder, and
brisket; cash prizes will be awarded to the top five finishers in
each of the contest's categories; and
WHEREAS, During the two-day event, Magnolia Park also plays
host to an exemplary lineup of musical groups, and attendees can
take part in silent auctions, a dessert competition, and a Kids Q
cook-off for children between the ages of 5 and 16; and
WHEREAS, The Deep East Texas 2017 BBQ Championship offers a
fun and exciting time for individuals of all ages, and this
celebration of distinctive Lone Star cooking is all the more
noteworthy for the assistance it provides to area youth; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commemorate the Deep East
Texas 2017 BBQ Championship and extend sincere best wishes to the
event's participants and organizers for an enjoyable and rewarding
experience.
