 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Dr. Luis C. Luna of the Clint Independent School
 District has been named the 2018 Secondary Teacher of the Year by
 the Region 19 Education Service Center; and
 WHEREAS, The winners of these prestigious annual awards are
 first nominated for consideration by their fellow faculty members,
 and those who are later chosen as district Teacher of the Year
 become eligible for the regional honor; and
 WHEREAS, A valued member of the faculty at Clint Junior High
 School for the past 13 years, Dr. Luna has taught courses in Texas,
 U.S., and world history, and science; he has further contributed to
 the school by coaching a variety of sports, including
 cross-country, basketball, football, track and field, baseball,
 and softball, at both the middle school and high school levels; he
 holds a bachelor's degree in sports medicine from The University of
 Texas at El Paso, a master's degree in educational administration
 from Sul Ross State University, and a doctoral degree in education
 from Northcentral University; and
 WHEREAS, Luis Luna exemplifies the passion, determination,
 and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our best teachers,
 and he has set a standard of excellence to which all in his
 profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Dr. Luis
 C. Luna on his selection as the 2018 Secondary Teacher of the Year
 by the Region 19 Education Service Center and extend to him sincere
 best wishes for continued success with his important work; and, be
 it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Dr. Luna as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
