No. 189 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The North Texas Angels Pageant, held annually at the Eisemann Center in Richardson, offers participants of all ages and ability levels the opportunity to build self-confidence and experience the glamour and excitement of appearing on stage; and WHEREAS, Founded in 2013 by Fredrick and Staci Newton, the North Texas Angels Pageant is a noncompetitive event open to male and female contestants living with physical or developmental disabilities, rare diseases, or serious, long-term illnesses; and WHEREAS, Every year, the pageant welcomes 100 participants from cities throughout Texas, with each "angel" receiving star treatment from start to finish; the unforgettable day includes the assistance of hair stylists and makeup artists, a photo shoot with a professional photographer, and a range of other special services, and each contestant also takes home a crown, sash, trophy, gift bag, and video of the pageant; and WHEREAS, This extraordinary event is made possible through the contributions of a number of corporate and individual sponsors, as well as through the generosity of volunteers, who help to ensure a safe, supportive, and enjoyable environment for the participants; and WHEREAS, By giving Texans with special needs a day in the spotlight, the North Texas Angels Pageant is providing them with a memory that they will long cherish, and it is a pleasure to commend all those who are involved in this truly worthwhile cause; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby honor the North Texas Angels Pageant and extend to its founders, organizers, volunteers, and participants sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the North Texas Angels Pageant as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
