No. 474 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Richard Dewey is retiring as grading manager at the JBS beef processing plant in Cactus on August 18, 2017, concluding more than 45 years of dedicated service in the industry; and WHEREAS, Rick Dewey took his first job at the Dubuque Packing Company in Mankato, Kansas, in 1971; after learning a variety of duties, he was promoted to a supervisory role, where he gained his first experience grading cattle, and he subsequently transferred to the plant's grading department; and WHEREAS, Mr. Dewey remained with the Dubuque plant until its closure, and through a connection with a USDA grader, he was offered a job at the expanding beef facility in Cactus; beginning as a general foreman in 1987, he has served as grading manager at the plant for the past 12 years, during which time his skill and ability to adapt to changes in the industry have made him an invaluable member of the JBS team; and WHEREAS, Retirement will afford Mr. Dewey the opportunity to more fully devote himself to his hobbies of travel, riding motorcycles, and fishing; he and his wife, Candy, also plan to spend more time with their family, which includes their children, Craig, Heath, Erik, and Amber, and their grandchildren, Parker, Bryson, Ava, and Emma; and WHEREAS, Over the years, Rick Dewey has earned the respect and admiration of all those who have had the pleasure of working with him, and he may reflect with pride on his outstanding career as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Richard Dewey on his retirement from the JBS beef processing plant in Cactus and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Dewey as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
