SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 114 In Memory of Elise Ybarra WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Abilene in mourning the loss of Detective Elise Ybarra, who died in the line of duty August 6, 2017, at the age of 33; and WHEREAS, Elise Ybarra was an exemplary citizen and a peace officer who was widely respected and admired for her dedication to her profession and for her many contributions to her community; and WHEREAS, Detective Ybarra began her career in law enforcement as a member of the Sedalia Police Department in Missouri; in 2014, she joined the Abilene Police Department and served as a patrol officer before transferring to the Special Victims Unit as a child abuse investigator in 2016; and WHEREAS, Over the course of her career, she handled the unique challenges of law enforcement duty with courage, professionalism, and a deep commitment to public service; and WHEREAS, She and her beloved husband, Adam, were blessed with a daughter, who was a source of much pride and joy for her; and WHEREAS, A woman of strength, compassion, and integrity, she gave unselfishly to others, and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be forgotten by those who were privileged to share in her life; and WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife and mother, and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Elise Ybarra; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Elise Ybarra.
