                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 138
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize the Austin Center for Grief and Loss for 10 years of
 outstanding service to the community; and
 WHEREAS, The Austin Center for Grief and Loss is a
 nonprofit organization that was established to assist children
 and adults as they move from loss to life; the center helps them
 to transform their grief by providing them with therapy, support,
 education, training, and consultation; and
 WHEREAS, The center was founded in 2007 by Khris Ford to
 honor her late son, Stephen Ford; originally known as My Healing
 Place, it is modeled after Bo's Place, a Houston organization
 established to help children who had lost a loved one; and
 WHEREAS, The center provides a range of services for
 individuals and families who have experienced loss due to the
 death of a loved one and for those who have experienced loss due
 to divorce or separation; it also offers training for school
 counselors and continuing education classes for therapists; and
 WHEREAS, The Austin Center for Grief and Loss has had a
 profound impact on the lives of countless people, and it is truly
 fitting that it receive special recognition; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend the board of
 directors, therapists, staff, and volunteers of the Austin Center
 for Grief and Loss on their commitment to serving others and extend
 to all best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 the center as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
